This landscaping project was a real pleasure. We had worked with these folks the previous season installing 125 Blue Rug Junipers ( Wiltonii’) on a steep slope.

The landscape project for this season was to create a 17,000 square foot wildflower meadow to complete the slope. The property was in a new housing development and they had corner lot that was large and steep. They didn’t want to mow this large area, but it did need something nice to accentuate their beautiful home with a view.Thier daughter suggested wildflowers. Since we had never taken on a large wildflower meadow we took some time to research and plan what we’d have to do to get a show stopper. Not only did we create a meadow for the homeowners to enjoy but all the neighbors love it too.

As we approach a new summer season we are waiting to see what the meadow will produce this year. Perennial wildflowers do take a couple of years to fully develop so patience is a must. Good things come to those who wait! Below are the flowers we can expect to see.

Leucanthemum( Ox-eye Daisy) Ch.maximum( Shasta Daisy) Coreopsis lanceolata ( Lance –Leaf Coreopsis) Coreopsis tinctoria ( Plains Coreopsis)Cosmos sulphureus ( Sulphur Cosmos ) Cosmos bipinnatus ( Wild Cosmos ) Dalia purpurea ( Purple Prairie Clover ) Delphinium consolida ( Rocket Larkspur ) Dianthus barbatus ( Sweet William ) Echinacea purpurea ( Purple Coneflower ) Eschscholzia californica ( California Poppy ) Gaillardia artistata ( Blanket Flower ) Gysophila elegans ( Baby’s Breath ) Helianthus annuus ( Annual Sunflower ) hesperis matronalis ( Dames Rocket ) Lavatera trimestris ( Rose Mallow ) Linum grandiflorum rubrum ( Scarlet Flax ) Linum perenne lewisii ( Blue Flax ) Lupinus perennis ( Perennial Lupine ) Nemophila menziesii ( Baby Blue Eyes) Papaver rhoeas ( Multi Poppy ) Rudbeckia gloriosa ( Gloriosa Daisy ) Rudbeckia hirta ( Black Eyed Susan ) Silence armeria ( None- So -Pretty )Chrysanthemum maximum (Shasta Daisy) Digitalis purpurea ( Foxglove)Helianthus maximiliani ( Perennial Sunflower ) Iberis umbellate ( Candytuft ) Liatris spicata ( Blazing Star) Ratibida columnaris ( Mexican Hat ) Ratibida columnaris ( Yellow Prairie Coneflower ) .
